The Murray Edwards College Franklin Society is the Science Society for Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. Membership of the society is open to all Murray Edwards College students interested in Science - in particular Natural Sciences students and those studying related subjects such as Medicine, Engineering or Maths.
We provide weekly drop-in tea and cake sessions on Saturdays at 8pm in the JCR. These are a perfect opportunity to get help from other students with your supervision work, discuss any problems you are having, or just to socialise! Food and drink (usually in the form of biscuits, cake, tea, hot chocolate, etc.) is provided, and you are welcome to bring along any dinner or work you want to do. Please bring your own mugs for hot drinks! Occasionally, a tea and cake event is substituted with a pizza night - keep an eye on your emails to find out when these are on.
We also run parties throughout the year - usually and the start and end of each term as well as some 'week 5 blues' parties such as our recent Science Themed Cocktails Night. These are designed to enable everyone to relax and have an evening off, as well as to get to know students in other year groups.
Careers and academic events are held usually once or twice a term. These may include Fellows or Graduate Students Talk events, NatSci Module Options evenings and Internships Information evenings. If there are any particular events you would like us to run, get in touch!
Members events will be advertised primarily by email - so let us know if you would like to be added to the mailing list. You can also receive updates via Facebook or Twitter.
